Pathway of Hope
When a family in crisis comes to The Salvation Army, they are welcomed with open arms. Food, shelter, clothing, spiritual care — whatever their needs, the Army will provide, to the best of our ability.
But what happens long term — when a family is ready to take the next step, to break the cycle of poverty and chart a new path forward?
With Pathway of Hope ( POH ), the Salvation Army is providing that link to a new life.
Pathway of Hope offers families one - on - one case management, helping them set and achieve goals. It is an integrated mission approach, combining practical and spiritual care, social services and corps resources, to maximize the impact on each family.
It’s walking alongside a family, supporting them with their goals, with the things that they struggle with; it’s having conversations and building relationships that will be transformative for each individual family.
Baby Song
Baby Song
is an exciting Salvation Army outreach program for babies, toddlers and their parents. Baby Song provides an opportunity for: parents to assist their babies in language development and interaction through music; babies to experience developmentally appropriate songs, activities and games; parents to build relationships with other parents; parents to gain parenting tips and information; and the church to reach out into the community.

Food Bank
It’s hard to imagine what it’s like to have to turn to a food bank in order to have a meal. But for too many Canadians, it is a reality they face day in and day out.
According to Food Banks Canada, each month, over 850,000 people turn to food banks for help and more than one - third are children and youth.
Rising food and fuel prices, static incomes, unemployment and changes to benefits are causing many families to struggle to put food on the table, let alone buy basic necessities. Individuals experiencing food insecurity are forced to choose between buying food and paying other bills. Parents choose between eating dinner and giving their portion to their children.
Last year, The Salvation Army Hamilton & Dundas Community & Family Services provided food assistance for approximately 2,000 families each month. Those assisted were families with children, employed people whose low wages don’t cover basic living essentials, individuals on social assistance, and Canadians living on a fixed income, which includes seniors and people with disabilities.
In addition to providing food, clients are referred to Community and Family Services programs and community resources as necessary, and are provided with spiritual counsel when requested.
